Never in a million years would I have imagined this is how we do wedding planning. Masks. Gloves. Hand sanitizer. Staying 6 feet away from everyone. It’s a crazy time – but we’re making the most of it! It’s been a little under two months since we got engaged and to be honest, I was hesitant to start planning a wedding. With all that we have going on around us, it felt a bit weird to be planning a party. But, after talking it over with family, we decided that it might be nice for us to all have something happy and fun to look forward to. And let me tell ya – this is going to be one heck of a party. I really really can’t wait.
So, we got started with the planning. And we’ve made some progress!
The venue
I didn’t really have much of a vision for our wedding before we got engaged so it was fun to start from scratch. We’re still figuring out decor inspiration, colors, etc. but the one thing we both agreed on is that we wanted a true party which helped us narrow down our venue search. We wanted a space that felt open enough for a large crowd and also wanted an industrial/modern vibe that wasn’t too busy or formal – a good blank canvas. After chatting with a ton of venues here in Atlanta (we even considered doing a destination wedding), we set up a few social-distancing approved site visits. That was interesting. There were definitely a few we really liked – but one we loved. It was the one we kept coming back to and comparing all of the other venues to. It was the one. And, not it actually is.
We have officially booked our wedding venue and our wedding date and I can’t even believe it. Brick & Ivey is the most perfect space for us. It’s 15 minutes from our house. It has all of the features we could want in a venue. It’s gorgeous and modern and it going to be the perfect backdrop for this epic celebration.
Now that we have the date and venue crossed off our list, we can start working backwards to get all of the other stuff done. Bring it on.
The other stuff…
In addition to the venue and the date, we actually have crossed a few other things off our list. I wanted to lock in our photographer/videographer right away and am so freaking excited to work with Blakely and her team. We also have our DJ booked (thanks, Nicole!!) and our caterer and bar package locked and loaded.
We have so much more to do but I gotta be honest, I’m enjoying every minute of it. My mom and I are bonding in such a special way. Brandon and I are having a blast figuring out our budget – yes, that was sarcasm. But it’s still really fun planning something so big together!
I can’t wait to continue sharing more of our planning process with you guys. Stay tuned for lots more wedding content over the next year – because it’s coming, ladies. Sorry not sorry!
That’s so awesome! Glad you two found your venue and continue to cross off other items on your list. Enjoy every moment!
