If you follow along on IG stories, you saw that a few weeks ago I ventured out to Athens with #FashionablyBae to visit one of my best friends from high school. We had SO much fin exploring Athens and checking out some of the best hangouts. Read on for details about the trip and what is seriously one of my favorite GA cities.
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC provided me with compensation and use of a vehicle for a short period of time. The options I have shared about this vehicle are my own.
Raise your hand if one of your favorite spring + summer activities is a good road trip! #FashionablyBae and I love exploring new cities near and far. We’ve been to Charleston, Savannah and recently added Athens to the list and I think it might be one of my favorite trips to date. One of my best friends from high school lives in Athens so when we had the opportunity to go on a mini getaway in the new Toyota RAV4, I immediately shot her a text letting her know we were on our way!
I probably should have prefaced today’s post with one simple fact: I hate driving any long(ish) distance. Anything over the 15 minutes or so it takes me to get around the city basically depresses me. But y’all, I kid you not – driving to and from Athens in the RAV4 was a completely different experience. Maybe it’s because it was a newer model or maybe it was this awesome electric blue color, but the trip seemed so easy and carefree. There are a ton of cool features the RAV4 has that totally won me over. Being able to sync my phone and play all the Bruno Mars I wanted while B snored loudly in the passenger seat was by far one of my favorite things. Not to mention, the blind spot detector which pretty much saves the day with busy highway driving. Just so much goodness.
I’ve been to Athens a few times before when I was in college so it’s safe to say that experience was totally different. This time around, Diana wanted to show off some of her favorite places to grab a good meal, hang out and have a chill day al fresco.
After dropping off the RAV4 at Diana’s condo, we started the afternoon with a trip downtown where we played corn hole (the girls won), caught up on all the new + fun things going on in our lives and got to hang out with a pretty awesome Athens crowd. I love that everything downtown is so close together so we could walk around and explore some of the the great Athens hot spots like the Arch and Ted’s Most Best (best pizza I have ever had). We ended up calling it an early night so we could wake up Sunday and grab breakfast at the infamous Mama’s Boy. We all hopped in the RAV4 and jetted across town for the perfect Athens sendoff. The fried green tomatoes, super sized cinnamon roll and fried chicken biscuit were my favorites – but seriously everything was so good.
We had such a great weekend with old & new friends and our little roadtrip was the perfect way to kick off a summer full of travels and new adventures!
Love Athens! This is so fun.
