I’ve always been a denim girl. What can I say? I love to be comfortable as often as humanly possible. If I could rock sweats every day, that would be more ideal but a good pair of jeans is the next best thing.
After doing a major closet cleanout over the weekend, I came to the realization that when it comes to my jean collection, there are 3 major themes. I.e. three styles that I tend to wear over everything else and it got me thinking – all girls only really need these three styles.
So, without further ado – my guide to the only pairs of jeans you need!
No. 1 Black Jeans
If I could only wear one pair of jeans for the rest of my life, it would be a chic pair of black denim. As a matter of fact, they’re the ones I currently wear the most even now. Fun fact: Brandon actually hates my black jeans – and I have several pairs of different styles. Maybe it’s because I wore them so much when we first started dating or maybe he’s just super weird, but he’s not a fan. I, however, am obsessed. They’re modern and somehow still classic. They’re chic and go with everything. They’re dressy enough for date night and casual enough for a football game. They’re the MVP in jeans.

No. 2 Boyfriend Jeans
I once had a reader email me to say that I wore boyfriend jeans too much. I didn’t even realize that was an “issue” but alas, here we are because ya girl loves a good pair of boyfriend jeans. They’re comfy and super cool. They can be dressed up or down. I love how oversized they are. The only downside: it is SO hard to find a good pair. I feel like sizing can be weird. Do you get your size? Size up? Size down? Every brand seems to design their boyfriend jeans differently but the one brand I’ve always loved for this style is American Eagle.

No. 3 Dark Wash No-rip Jeans
As much as I love a good pair of distressed denim, I think every girl needs a classic pair of dark-wash jeans. Skinny, bootcut, wide leg, straight – the style is up to you! But having a simple pair of dark denim is definitely a closet staple in my book. Great for casual Fridays at the office or dinner with your in-laws. You can also jazz ’em up for the weekends. They’re the perfect blank canvas and can be dressed up or down for any occasion.
