Summer Patterns

I’m back from Italy and before I dive into all of the amazing content Shelby & I captured (just prepare yourself for loads of pasta and gondola shots), I thought the best way to kick off a new month would be with some of my favorite summer patterns.

The weather is finally starting to get it’s act together here in Atlanta so when it comes to stocking up on summer trends, I honestly can’t help myself. As much as I love all things neutral, after a recent shopping trip to Banana Republic, I stumbled across a few patterns that I just couldn’t resist.

Stripes and gingham are nothing new. They’re not exactly groundbreaking when spring or summer come to mind but they’re two of the only prints (along with polka dots) that I’ll actually wear. My love affair started a few years ago and it’s pretty cool to see how styles and trends have evolved over time to incorporate these patterns into new & fresh looks.

Whether you’re pairing the prints together (a la today’s look) or styling them alone or even with other prints (polka dots anyone?), the opportunities for making these looks your own are absolutely endless.

Keep reading for a few my go-to tips along with some of my favorite picks from Banana Republic!

STRIPES

Seriously. Does it get any more classic than stripes? I will always own at least one striped button down. You can’t go wrong with a timeless blue & white combination and it’s just the perfect stapel to dress down with jeans or to dress up for the office with a pencil skirt. You could also have a little more fun and go with a leather mini and heels or get casual with jogger pants and sneakers. Take the piece on your next vacation and pair with denim cutoffs or wear it as a swim coverup.

When it comes to stripes in general, I tend to keep it to one focus piece per look. Go for a sleek blouse, fun trousers, a flirty mini or event striped accessories.

GINGHAM

There will always be something so girly and adorable about a cool gingham print. As much as I live for a gingham sundress or pants situation, I’m all about gingham accessories lately. These block heel sandals are perfect for spring & summer and serve as a great neutral regardless of the look.

Play it up by adding pops of gingham to your office or brunch OOTDs whith a chic bag, scarf or loafers. Don’t be afraid to get crazy and try a gingham on gingham skirt & bottom combo.

Love it! I admire your boldness to combine such daring patterns and make them work. I would never think to combine those type of patterns together but you make it work in harmony. Gorgeous!
