Your Life Your Dress Code

This past weekend, Brandon and I ventured outside of the city to visit Chateau Elan for their Rum & Port Tasting and Dinner. The night was truly magical and we had so much fun making a full trip out of it! We went up a little early to explore the grounds (I LOVE a good vineyard) and do a wine tasting at the main house.

I was feeling inspired by my recent trip to Paris and decided to go with this bold red number from Express for an early afternoon lunch/wine pairing. If you’re not familiar, Express celebrates the fact that we all have our unique dress code that is true to our personal style, day-to-day lives, etc. They pride themselves on delivering confident styles that allow all of us ladies (guys too!) to embrace what’s next in our life. From day to night and college to career, Express stands for progress, helping each customer to get to the next level, together moving forward….I mean, that’s something I can get behind.

I also love that they encourage women to embrace their inner confidence and try new things, meet new people, take on new challenges and more! That’s exactly what this trip ended up being all about. First of all, I don’t usually wear red. I love neutrals and typically play it safe when it comes to dresses. When I saw this red pleated stunner in store, I knew I had to have it. I love how bold it is and the cut is super flattering.

I opted for neutral wedges and this blue printed silk scarf for the perfect summer combo. I can’t begin to tell you how many compliments I received and I have to say, the bold red dress served as the perfect conversation starter with new friends. Speaking of new friends, B and I both challenged ourselves on this trip to break out of our comfort zones and try new foods and also branch out to meet some of the amazing and super interesting people at the event. Not only did we end up linking up with a couple our own age but we were literally joined at the hip with an older french couple that have been married for over 50  years. And believe me when I say they know how to get down! We danced the night away to live music and just enjoyed this once in  a lifetime experience.

Maybe it was the red dress. Maybe it was this newfound confidence (thanks, Express!). Either way, I now have some of my favorite memories of 2017 locked in the books and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!
