Health Goals I’m Setting for 2022

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.

Instead of focusing on results driven goals like weight loss, this year I’m prioritizing the process – i.e. small habits and changes I can make on a daily basis to work towards a healthier me. I used to get so obsessed with the end result and if I didn’t see physical changes, I would quickly give up or try even more restrictive means to reach my goal. Not this year. Instead, we’re switching things up and taking the steps to live a healthier, more balanced life while taking care of the physical and mental health, too. And I am excited.

I received a few new products from Babbleboxx to try out over the holidays and have been LOVING them. They’re actually the inspiration behind some of my goals this year and came at the perfect time. I quickly realized that some of the things I need to work on most are nutrition related – and also shifting the perspective from eating to look a certain way to eating to feel a certain way.

Goal No. 1: Prioritize Self Care

Maybe it’s the pregnancy or maybe I’m just growing up but I am finally at a point where I REALLY take my self care seriously. Part of that includes keeping my skin moisturized and in the best shape possible. I’ve been using Tree Hut’s Vitamin C Whipped Body Butter as the perfect
skin-treat after a bath or as a skin-refresher in the morning. The glow-boosting scent of Vitamin C leave’s the skin feeling soft, hydrated and smelling amazing! I love that this product is paraben free, vegan, sulfate free, alcohol free, contains no formaldehyde donors, and has a long-lasting fragrance in a non-greasy, whipped formula.

A big thing for me in the self care department is staying organized and writing daily in my journal. I’ve been loving the Zebra Pen Journaling Set:
Mildliner Highlighter & Sarasa Clip Assorted 14pk. The assortment has everything you need, no matter your writing needs. The multi-pack includes both Sarasa Clip Gel Retractable Pens and Mildliner Highlighters in complementary colors. I LOVE that I have the classic black and blue colors and can add fun accents throughout my notes and to-do lists with pops of pinks, purples and greens. Everything is organized and easily accessible which makes finding the perfect pen and highlighter that much easier. My favorite feature so far? The dual-ended highlighter! Whether you’re writing/drawing in the margins or highlighting tasks as you complete them, you got options.

Goal No. 2: Increase protein for mom & baby.

I’ve shared my love for Shaklee before so when I finally got my hands on their Collagen-9 and Life Shake Soy Protein – French Vanilla, I was SO excited. One of my goals after some recent lab work is to increase my protein intake. This is something we all need to prioritize for healthy bodies but especially now that I’m pregnant, it’s even more important to make sure I’m getting enough protein both for myself and for baby Chambers.

The Collagen-9 is one of my daily staples. Not only does it include all 9 essential amino acids, 10 g of collagen, and a combination of biotin and vitamin C* but it is the perfect, unflavored addition to pretty much anything. I add to my morning decaf latte, my pasta sauce, my cereal milk and more for an added boost of protein.

I also really love the Shaklee Life Shake Soy Protein in French Vanilla (vegan, gluten free and non-GMO). With 20 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber, 24 essential vitamins and minerals, what’s not to love? I’ve been mixing with almond milk and serving over ice for an afternoon treat. It’s also my go-to protein powder for breakfast smoothies packed with fruit, kale, almond butter and chia seeds. So good.

Goal No. 3: More veggies daily.

When I tell you I barely ate a vegetable in my first trimester…it was bad. Now that things are finally starting to turn around and I can actually stomach veggies, I’m making it a personal goal of mine to eat more vegetables on a regular basis. One of the easiest ways for me right now is with Beetology. 100% organic cold pressed juice featuring all natural ingredients, no preservatives or additives and no artificial colors or flavors – I’m a fan. Beets are also one of those veggies I struggle with eating but when paired with fruit and other veggies, I can finally get some of the amazing benefits of this powerful veggie including vitamins and minerals associated with lowering blood pressure, fighting inflammation, increased stamina, detoxification support, boosting immunity, and so much more.

Goal No. 4: Be more creative in the kitchen.

For me, one of the hardest parts of living a healthier, more balanced lifestyle is the food. I’m not only a super picky eater but I really struggle finding recipes that are easy, nutrient dense and GOOD. And, throw in the fact that I’m craving slightly different things right now and finding things I used to love unappetizing – it’s hard. So, I made one of my goals for the year to get a little more creative in the kitchen. I want to test out new recipes, try new ingredients and also have fun with treats and indulgences. One of the things I’ve been excited about during this phase of pregnancy is whipping up some fun mocktails. I made Brandon and myself martinis with the Monday Zero Alcohol Gin and we were very happy with the result. With a bold blend of
juniper, natural botanicals, citrus, and spices, we were able to have a taste of the London classic at home – and we could both enjoy sipping on a few for movie night.
