haute hostess

This year, with my parents heading to Vegas for the holidays, I jumped at the chance to host Christmas dinner for the very first time. Now that we are all settled into our new place, I couldn’t wait to set a festive tablescape, try a new recipe form my 5-ingredient cookbook (baby steps, right?) and taste the Sangria I have been dying to make all season!

So, as we a take a break from our regular scheduled programming, take a peak into my first attempt at putting on the “haute hostess” hat 🙂

The Decor

I have been drooling over this Threshold for Target bar cart for the past several months. When my mom gifted us an early Christmas/housewarming present, I could not wait to style it for our new place, let alone for our first Holiday dinner!

For a classic and festive tablescape, I decided to play up our green accent wall. These placemats from HomeGoods were perfect!

I loved these fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s, adding in some fresh cranberries left over from my Sangria.

I couldn’t resist the gold cardboard trees and napkins from Target. I love the modern twise they add to the table setting.

The Dinna

We have always talked about trying something new and skipping over the heavy and “typical” holiday dinner. I mean, we just stuffed our tummies less than a month ago with turkey, carbs and all the fixings, so why not try something a little different. I love the idea of a simple pasta dish, side salad and yummy desserts.

And you can’t go wrong with a festive Sangria, right?

After we were done filling up on pasta and booze, it only seemed right to serve these mini caramel apple pies and sugar cookies.

The Folks

Love these people so much!

xoxo,
Lauren
