The First Step to Going Bold with Fashion

Okay guys – is the leopard too much?? Let me answer that for ya. Nope! This might seem totally random but I have been on the hunt for a leopard suit for a while now. I don’t remember where I saw one (probably during one of my late night Instagram black hole moments) but ever since I spotted this fierce look, I knew I had to recreate it.

During a recent shopping haul on ASOS, I came across this leopard suit and knew I had to snag it up for NYFW. I mean, how could I not?? But let me a little honest with you guys – I was terrified I wouldn’t be able to pull it off. If you’ve been following me for the past few months, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve talked a lot about my love for minimal style and basic pieces. Leopard is about as opposite from minimal and basic as you can get. But I had to do it and I’ll tell you why.

As much as I love a good beige situation, there will always be a part of me that yearns for trendy, outrageous, adventurous style. While I tend to make statements with accessories or a bold lip, I’ve been trying to incorporate more cool prints into my wardrobe especially as we head into fall. Take leopard for example. It doesn’t really get any louder than this. However, I think there’s still something chic and modern about a good leopard print, especially when it comes in to the form of a suit. I love that this one in particular is a more muted tone and the tailor cut of the pants and blazer take that style factor up a notch. Believe me, this could have gone real tacky real fast. I also opted for more neutral accessories as to not compete with the bolder print.

So here’s the deal. If you’re anything like me and looking to have a little more fun with your fashion this fall, start with inspiration. Don’t copy your favorite blogger or celeb but instead, take inspiration from their style and figure out how you can make it yours. Are you dying to try more color but tend to wear ALL black ALL day? Go for a red lip and green pumps to ease your way into it. Can’t wait to rock a crazy printed combo? Start with a prints in the same color palette like black and white stripes with a black floral top. You got this girl!
