It might be fall in Atlanta, but I swear the weather here has been extremely wishy washy. We have rain one day, 90 degree heat the next and then chilly nights…my hair and skin don’t know how to act! In my eyes, the best way to recover from a dry summer transitioning into a crazy fall weather cycle is to amp up your beauty and hair care routine. Whether it’s giving your skin a break from too many products or letting your hair breathe and go ‘natural’ (i.e. no heat) for a few days at a time, I’m all about it.
I’ve recently been doing just that – you probably noticed my slicked back curls/baby bun and minimal makeup on Insta! Keep reading for some of the products I’ve been using to recover from the weather ups and down and make sure you peep the giveaway at the end of the post!
Moisturize!!
After a summer full of pool days, salt water and Atlanta heat, my skin has been in major need of some moisture. Especially with the mix of hot and humid days we’ve been having lately, I can’t seem to feel like my face is doing all sorta of crazy. To help solve the problem and add a little nourishment to my skin, I love using Olay’s Total Effects Lightweight Moisturizer. It is fast absorbing, non-greasy (!!!) and provides great anti aging benefits. Not to mention, it is formulated with Olay SolaSheer Technology, a photo-stabilized sunscreen system that nourishes the skin with a vitamin complex while protecting skin against UVB and UVA rays. So, if you opt for a sunny fall vacay or if you get a random hot day in ATL, this stuff is perfect for applying in the morning to get you through whatever weather sitch coming your way.
The Perfect Foundation
For days when I want a fresh face but still some minimal coverage, I opt for COVERGIRLl’s TruBlend Liquid Makeup. It has a water-based formula and the unique pigments allow for the foundation to move and blend with my skin more easily (uhhh hello, it’s amazing). The best part? The foundation is completely oil free and comes in over 20 shades. So whether it is humid or hot or cold or rainy, this lightweight solution doesn’t melt or make me feel like I have anything caked on. Top it off with a coat of mascara and a pink lip gloss and you have the perfect day-to-day look. Talk about the perfect way to give your skin a little break and recovery time.
Condition and Repeat
I’ve mentioned this time and time again, but my hair is naturally curly and extremely frizzy. Because I color it so often and apply so much heat to battle the ATL humidity, my hair almost always looks damaged or dry. Not knowing how the weather is going to be any given day, I’ve recently tried going for a more natural, carefree look. To embrace my curls and beat the rando weather conditions, I rub in a few pumps of Herbal Essences Conditioning Whip to freshly towel dried hair and slick back into a mini bun. It literally transforms my dry, frizz-prone curly hair into soft, touchable locks which is def ideal. And if you don’t have curls, no worries, it is perfect for smoothing out any frizz or split ends from that crazy humid/dry/rainy/cold weather the season keeps throwing our way.
