With Thanksgiving coming up in just a few days (seriously can’t believe it’s here already), I’ve been mentally preparing and packing for our trip to San Antonio. If you’re anything like me, trying to sort out your travel plans and outfits can be a pain in and of itself, let alone trying to make it through TSA without having a serious breakdown. And let’s be real, no one wants to run through the airport in heels and annoyingly uncomfortable layers so for today’s post, I thought I’d take one thing off your packing list and  share a few tips and ideas for achieving that coveted easy travel outfit.

Picking out my looks for travel days always seems to take way more time than it really should. I usually can’t decide between whether or not I want to be a major bum or look somewhat put together. To be honest, I almost always air on the side of bum-chic which is pretty much the best of both worlds and you really can’t go wrong with that.

When creating my perfect easy travel outfit for the day, I like to go for some sort of legging situation. I shared this last week, but I have a serious love affair with these SPANX faux leather leggings and I wear them two to three times a week. They give off a super polished and edgy look without losing any of the comfort factor that comes with a pair of leather pants or stuffy jeans. To keep in line with this whole comfort theme, I love pairing my leggings with black Nikes or another pair of sneakers or loafers. You can easily slip ‘em on and off at TSA or on the plane and I like to think they add a coolness factor to any look.  Y’all also know how much I love a good tee shirt so I typically top off my leggings with a slouchy, oversized tee like this gray one. Because the temps are dropping and I almost always freeze my ass off on the plane, I love having a coat with me at all times. Forget the fact that no one wants to actually pack their coat or jacket in their suitcase (who has time for that hot mess waiting to happen) but I also love the added chic factor a modern coat like this one from Rent the Runway has. And seriously, if you’re not using RTR to amp up your holiday looks this season you’re missing out. Now that you can easily rent cool designer pieces for everyday wear, your holiday and travel looks never have to be basic again.

Creating the perfect modern + stylish yet still easy travel outfit can seem like a tall order but if you try any combo of these closet staples, I promise you’ll get that celebrity style/total pjs vibe and at the end of the day, isn’t that all a girl really needs in life?
