The answer to that question above is still to be determined. I shared a few weeks ago that I was finally trying yoga for the first time and I’m not going to lie, I was a little unsure. I’m not sure why I was so late to the yogi-train but after hearing so much aboutCore Power Yoga, I decided it was finally time to try it for myself. I think I may have mixed reviews but all in all, I’m pretty excited to have added a new workout to my routine. Read on below for my first experience with CPY!
So let’s start with the things I don’ quite love about yoga in general. One: it’s SO quiet. And yes, I know that’s how it’s supposed to be. Something just feels so restricting about not being able to talk to my neighbor, laugh, etc. I also can’t take anything seriously and some of those poses just get me real giggly. Two: the music. Again, I know yoga is supposed to provide a sense of relaxation and calmness so a little Drake or Bruno Mars doesn’t really make sense. But for me, any workout I do has to involve some sort of high tempo beat to keep me motivated and powering through.
Fortunately, when I decided to try Core Power Yoga it’s like they read my mind. Now don’t get me wrong, they don’t play super uptempo beats or have a “no silence policy” in their beginner classes but something about the flow and poses made up for some of the things I thought were missing before. I started with their early-level classes and still thought they were pretty challenging, in a good way. The instructors were super helpful and getting to knock out my first class with blogger bestie Sabrina didn’t hurt either.
All in all, I still have some more exploring to do when it comes to yoga but I’m pretty pumped that I get to try one of the best.
Are you a yogi? Do you have any tips for making the most our of your classes? Comment below!
I’m a yogi! I’m completely hooked on workout classes. I wasn’t the biggest fan at first, I thought yoga was lame and not a good work out. BUT when I started truly focusing on each move all the voices and to do list in my head went away. Yoga is now my favorite get away activity! I leave feeling refreshed, stretched out, and relaxed. So good for the soul.
