Little Black Romper in Bo Kaap

Alright ladies, I’ve got a secret for you. If you don’t have a little black romper then you are 100% missing out on living your . best life. Okay, so that might be a bit of an exaggeration but ever since I scored this black romper from ASOS for our trip to Cape Town, I feel like I’m totally over the whole LBD thing and on to adorable rompers.

So what’s my obsession with a little black romper? I mean, isn’t it obvious. The look can be chic + modern, uber stylish, comfortable and totally flattering. I fell in love with this cool detailed romper as soon as I saw it online and pretty much stalked my UPS guy until it arrived. I tried it on immediately and already have a full on schedule for places I wanted to wear this gem.

When planning on locations to meet Nina for our first photo shoot, I knew I had to visit Bo Kaap. Probably one of the most instagrammable spots in Cape Town (I mean can you really beat pastel homes??), I couldn’t wait to explore the charming ‘hood. I will say though I was a little nervous because I’m not the most colorful. Hello, I live for all things grey and beige. However, as I mentioned yesterday this place just sort of transformed my mindset and got me so excited for adding more color to my life!

In the spirit of not going overboard, I still opted to wear a darker neutral ( and this romper seemed like the perfect combination of fun, bold and girly without being too obvious. To say I was slightly overdressed for the casual neighborhood would be an understatement but I am pretty obsessed with how these photos turned out.

Not only because I love all of the color and the contrast with the black romper but I just feel like Nina totally captured my spirit. If that makes any sense. This trip basically had me living on cloud 9. I felt so carefree and happy the entire time. To be with my man and my friends in this amazing country with so much culture and history and personality. And then to spend an afternoon in one of the brightest places I’ve ever seen…it all just came full circle and I’m so happy I got to meet with Nina to capture it all.
