The Last Post of 2020

Whew. This year has been nothing short of interesting. Through all of the challenges, the hardships, the alone time, the ups and the downs, one thing has remained constant for me – I truly, truly love what I do.

I feel grateful for this platform. I appreciate the people (that’s you) that read what I write, watch what I create, shop what I share. It’s a humbling and equally terrifying responsibility. So, thank you. If I don’t say that enough – THANK YOU.

How it all began…

If you’ve been following me for a while, you might remember the Fashionably Lo days. I started my blog in 2012 as an outlet for affordable fashion + style. I was working in marketing in Washington DC (my first job out of college) and although I liked what I was doing, it wasn’t an insanely creative job – I worked mainly on our military accounts.

I loved getting dressed up for work – I mean, it was my first big girl job so you know I had to slay…or at least try to. I posted a picture of my outfit every single day on Facebook and then later on Instagram (I had an Android so was late to the IG game). I would always get requests from my co-workers and friends to share where I got my outfits. Eventually, someone mentioned that I should start a blog. I had no idea what a blog was or what a blogger did. So, I went home, googled it, came up with the name Fashionably Lo, made a logo in Powerpoint, and started a blogger.com website – and the rest was history.

The photo to the left is from my first blog post. It doesn’t get much more “new blogger” than a windblown, slightly blurry iPhone photo. But I love it all the same.

The journey to Lauren Elyce…

I made the decision to change the name of my blog in 2017 from Fashionably Lo to Lauren Elyce. Why? Well, that’s a slightly long story but I’ll give you the short version. What started as an affordable fashion blog evolved overtime to something much greater. After moving to Atlanta in 2013 and embarking on my “adult” life, my interests started to vary and that became more apparent on my blog – and in my content. In addition to affordable fashion, I started covering beauty, recipes, décor, fitness, travel and more. While I still focused on the more affordable approach to things, I started to notice a shift in the approach I was taking with content in general. It wasn’t just fashion. It was so much more. And Lauren Elyce was born.

So, I changed my name, got a new logo and started, for the first time, to consider how my “brand” was delivered to my audience. I started putting a greater interest in my photography. I started using colors and fonts and layouts that aligned with my “aesthetic”. I had a brand and was becoming a full time blogger. I like to credit this change (to both the name and how I approached my business/brand) to the success I’ve made over the past few years.

Cheers to a NEW Lauren Elyce.

Fast forward to 2020 and things have evolved even more. I feel like I have finally found my voice. My purpose. My mission.

Lauren Elyce has become a platform that feels much bigger than me. It’s a blog centered around me and the things I love. A blog dedicated to the woman I’ve become and the woman I’m growing into. A blog created to give other women, like me, a place to feel inspired and empowered. Emphasis on this last part.

So, without giving too much away, I’m excited to share that Lauren Elyce will be getting a new look and new direction come 2021. I cannot wait to show you what I’ve been working in with The Mod Collective. I especially can’t wait to bring you a new type of content with a deeper focus. Get ready to feel empowered on every level and to embrace the amazing, real, authentic, strong woman you are.

COMING SOON JANUARY 4 2021!

New content + the new look will launch in a few weeks but until then, I’ll still be posting and keeping in touch on Instagram so make sure you’re following along for a few sneak peeks.

Thank you again for being such a BIG part of my journey. I can’t wait to continue this journey with each and every single one of you.

Cheers and Happy Holidays!

xoxo, Lauren
