Summer is officially here and I could not be more excited. There’s just something about summer fashion that makes me really really happy. You know I’m not one to splurge on clothes. I still can’t stop won’t stop wearing workout clothes 90% of the time. BUT, when I do decide to get dressed, I love to mix and match summer staples to create infinite possibilities.
When it comes to building the perfect summer wardrobe, you can’t go wrong with lightweight separates. I picked up a few summer must-haves from Abercrombie & Fitch and can’t wait to start finding fun things to do so I can finally wear them. I’ve been really into shorts lately and love that you can easily rock them from day to night. Pair your breezy linen shorts with a neutral bodysuit and sandals for a social distancing brunch or dress them up with a cute blouse and a red lip for date night or cocktails. So. Many. Options.
How to take your summer look from day to night:
- Opt for separates: it’s so much easier to transition from day to night when all you have to do is swap out a top or a pair of bottoms. Keep the shoes and the accessories the same but swap an easy tee or tank with a blouse or swap an easy pair of shorts with dark denim or a midi skirt.
- Keep it neutral: rather than stocking up on lots of prints and patterns or bright colors, opt for a few neutral pieces in shades of ivory, tan and grey. I find that it’s easier to pair different neutral shades together. You can also use them as a blank canvas when you do want to rock a bright color or fun pattern.
- Dress it up with a red lip and earrings: this is my go-to for taking a day look to night. Keep your favorite red lipstick and a pair of earrings in your bag and easily take that daytime look to a dressier nighttime vibe.
