This is nothing new but I seriously love a good pencil skirt. I am a firm believer that the style is flattering on every body type and should be a staple in every girl’s wardrobe. This striped pencil skirt is from the fall Target x Who What Wear Collection and I fell in love the moment I saw it. I might have also purchased the shirt dress in the same print so stay tuned for that! The darker colors make it absolutely perfect for fall and did I mention…it’s a striped pencil skirt. So it’s just a super cool piece.
Sometimes styling a skirt in this cut can be tricky. Because it’s a midi style, I struggle with how to balance my top half and what kind of shoes to wear. For me, I usually go for a more fitted top. I have a small bust and larger curves below the waist (#getitfrommymama), so I love tucking in my shirt or wearing a pencil skirt like this one with something cropped. You could also try a more flowy top if you want to balance out a larger bust, just make sure you also tuck it in or pick one that cuts off right at the waist line. And when it comes to shoes, I’m pretty unimaginative. I tend to keep things simple and go for an ankle strap sandal in the warmer months and a closed toe pump in the cooler months. You could also totally rock a bootie or mid-calf boot for fall. Try pairing the skirt with a cropped chunky knit sweater!
Because this skirt has a pretty bold pattern, I decided to keep the look simple + modern. I opted for a white tee (my favorite) and neutral accessories. Throw on a blazer for the office or a jean jacket and booties for a more casual weekend look – either way, it’s obvious just how versatile a striped pencil skirt can be.
