It should come as no surprise that gingham is one of my favorite prints. To be honest, I love wearing it all year round but I think there is something about this warmer season that just makes it that much more appealing. When I saw this navy gingham top on ASOS, I knew I had to have it for spring. I mean – it’s just so good.
Now although I love #allthegingham, I typically don’t wear it in the super girly or picnic-y context it originated. Don’t get me wrong, I think a gingham sundress is pretty adorable. Who doesn’t love a straw hat with a red gingham ribbon? As much as I love it on other people, I tend to style my gingham with a more modern, subtle twist. I love a more neutral navy or black print and have noticed that I stick to those color combos more so than a red or pink. (with this adorable set as a tiny exception)
For a semi-casual look, I paired this navy gingham top – by the way, LOVE the ruffled hem – with black ripped jeans and my go-to spring trench coat. I can wear this look for everything from a lunch meeting to date night with #FashionablyeBae without the look appearing too “obvious” for spring. If that makes any sense! For example – you probably won’t find me a in a gingham a line skirt. However, I love finding gingham pieces that are more of a closet staple than a statement maker. This gingham top does all of that & more. It’s super versatile and can be worn with everything from a pencil skirt for the office to a super casual beach look paired with denim cutoffs.

LOVE how you styled this top! I would have never thought to pair it with black denim but it looks amazing!
