
Today’s post and short & sweet and to the point – because when you’re talking about alcohol, we don’t need a full intro if ya ask me. One of the questions I get most often is “can I still drink and lose weight”? Short answer: heck yeah. Long answer: you gotta keep a few things in consideration.
Obviously downing several beers and super sugary cocktails at a time start to add up. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a cocktail (or a few) or even beer for that matter while still working towards your fitness & health goals. I love to live and be social which sometimes means enjoying an adult beverage. Here are a few of my favorite cocktails to order when we’re out and about or make from home.
My Favorite “Healthy” Cocktail Orders
Margartia
How to order: tequila, fresh lime juice, and Cointreau (an orange liqueur that adds sweetness). NO or LIGHT agave.
Optional: ask for fresh fruit muddled or add jalapeño.
Mojito
How to order: ask for your mojito to be made with Club Soda and half of the simple syrup/sugar.
Paloma
How to order: Tequila with Club Soda, fresh lime juice and a splash of grapefruit juice. I also love ordering this with Vodka.
Mimosa or Bellni
How to order: Ask for the juice on the side and add a splash to your champagne to taste.
Wine Spritzer
How to order: Start with a sparkling or regular white wine or rosé and pair it with sparkling water and fresh fruit or a splash of juice
REMEMBER: you are allowed to LIVE YOUR LIFE. If you order a few beers or sugary frozen drinks, that’s OK. The options above are great alternatives to some of the more sugary cocktails but it doesn’t mean you should feel guilty for enjoying some libations or restrict calories because you had a strawberry daiquiri.
