Fun fact: I love movies.
I grew up watching them. My parents and I went every single weekend. My dad built a theater room in our basement complete with hundreds of DVDs and movie posters. Thanks to him, I became the cool kid in class ha. He even got a random part-time job at our local theater so we could watch #allthemovies for free. If you know my dad – this is SO him.
Fast forward to now and it’s one of the things that Brandon and I bond over the most. We go to the movies in sweats for a morning show (best prices). We go for date night. We spend our weekends in the bed watching new and old favorites. It’s one of my favorite things about our relationship and something that we have in common (totally balances out his love for video games and my love for annoying him).
Safe to say the silver screen hols a bit of nostalgia for me so I thought it might be fun to share a few of my favorites of all time! Some of these are throwbacks and some are recent picks that I can’t stop watching. These are the only movies that I can watch over and over and over again without getting bored. Check ’em out below.
The List
Imitation of Life.
THIS might be my favorite movie of all time. Real talk. It holds a little extra meaning for lots of reasons. My dad and his mom use to watch this movie. Yeah, it’s an older film but SO good. My mom also showed me this movie when I was in high school and it came at such a pivotal moment in my life. I’m “mixed” and when I was younger, as silly as it sounds now, I was very conflicted on “what I was”. I didn’t know where I really fit in and for the longest time, I think I tried to fit in with a certain crowd that I couldn’t really relate to but I didn’t realize that at the time. And that’s what this movie is about. Such a great classic.

Mamma Mia.
I have to warn you, I love musicals. I tried not to put a ton on this list but I love a good movie with songs I can sing along to. Fun fact about me: when I was in elementary and middle school, I was obsessed with A*Teens – a young pop group who did Abba covers. I fell in love with this retro music from the 70’s performed with a pop twist – obsessed. Mamma Mia is an adorable story set in Greece (dream destination) to all of ABBA’s top hits. I love it.

The Hangover.
When The Hangover first came out, I saw it ten times in theaters. I’m not exaggerating. TEN. It is still to this day one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Whenever it comes on TV I stop what I’m doing and watch it. You can’t go wrong with Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis – such a dynamic duo of looks and laughs.

Fight Club.
I mean – I know the first rule of fight club is you don’t talk about fight club but how can this NOT be on my list. A young Brad Pitt and Edward Norton paired with an edgy take on men fighting in a basement – what’s not to love?

Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Is this on every girl’s list? I’m definitely a fan of older movies but this Audrey Hepburn favorite takes the cake. I love everything about Holly Golightly from her chic breakfast plans to her eye mask. Her carefree attitude is one I totally strive for and I just think this is such a great rainy day movie to sit and watch with the girls.

Grease.
Grease was by far the movie I watched most when I was younger. After school, on the weekends. I was always watching Grease and wanted so badly to be a Pink Lady. I love me some old school Travolta and just love everything about this classic musical. I finally did play a Pink Lady in our high school musical of Grease but that pretty much ended my broadway career.

Bad Boys II.
You guys I cannot wait for Bad Boys 3!!! I am obsessed with Will Smith and his Instagram so it should be no surprise that I love the Bad Boys franchise The 2nd one was definitely better than the first in my opinion. I love their friendship, the humor, the action. So good!

Can’t Buy Me Love.
If you haven’t seen a young Patrick Dempsey – you’re doing it wrong. I love this early classic and all of the 80s/90s vibes that come with it! A love story where the nerd gets the girl? Count me in!

Dirty Dancing.
Do I even need to tell you guys about this one? I clearly have a thing for movies with a song and dance focus so this is absolutely a favorite of mine. The ending kills me every time and I just really want to dance around in some keds and denim cutoffs all summer long.

Burlesque.
Okay so I have to tell you. The acting in this movie isn’t great but the dancing and music 100% make up for it. Christina Aguilera and Cher – HELLO!!!!! Also, I really think a burlesque dancer might be my new career.
