A Continued Evolution. Meet LaurenElyce 2.0

Okay. So if you’re thinking that things look a little lot different here on LaurenElyce.com, you’d be correct. Before you say anything, let me just go ahead and give you some background.

I have issues with change. I’m not as much afraid as change and instead might go after it a little too much. I’ve been this way since high school. I would redecorate my bedroom every few months, begging my mom for a new comforter or new paint or new wallpaper in my bathroom. Even now, I change up the furniture placement and decor in my loft every few weeks. One of the things I’ve changed the most over the past year or so is this little piece of the internet. My blog.

If you’ve been following since the beginning, you’ll remember that I started in 2012 as Fashionably Lo. Since it’s launch, I’ve had numerous logos, numerous site designs, changes in my aesthetic and style and content…and so much more. I made the decision in June of last year to give my brand an overhaul, changing the name of my blog to Lauren Elyce (you can read more about that change here). In September, I worked with Megan to help bring my updated brand to life with a new site experience.

So here’s the deal. I LOVED my new website. It was a completely custom design that took lots of hours, late night texts, annoying meetings on my behalf  (sorry Megan!!) and so much more but it was so SO good. But, what I’ve come to realize over the past few months is that I wasn’t as happy with the brand I was starting to build as part of my new name. I didn’t feel like the content I was putting out there was any different than the thousands of other bloggers out there. I couldn’t quite figure out what my “aesthetic” was. I was struggling to identify my voice and my overall banding for LaurenElyce.com. I felt stuck and like I wasn’t growing and all of that combined led me to start this HUGE overhaul.

In addition to a new site experience which isn’t completely finished and will likely be a fluid evolution of change over the next few months, I’ve been working on getting back to the focus on my blog. In 2012, I started as solely a style blogger. I had this vision of sharing my style with the masses because I wrongly assumed that’s all I had to offer. Over the past few years, I’ve evolved my content to include more travel, more lifestyle and more personal stories. And at this point in my career of blogging one thing is extremely clear: I want to be a storyteller and a true resource of inspiration.

Let’s be real, you probably could care less about outfit posts. To be honest, I could care less about them. I stopped writing content that would keep my readers interested and focused on “selling” the products I was wearing. I hate that. So, as part of this major refresh I’m putting the focus more on being a storyteller and creating content that can actually help you in your daily life. Whether that is style and fashion tips, beauty product suggestions, lifestyle hacks, real-life experiences and advice and everything in between — this new LaurenElyce 2.0 is for YOU, the reader.

Along with new stories + posts, I am putting a stronger focus on the content I produce. I want it to be high quality, engaging and still REAL. I’ve been working with one photographer to really nail a more cohesive aesthetic and we’re having so much fun capturing images to accompany the stories I’ll be posting. I’m also planning to continue my goal for more videos this year – so keep a lookout for a new video launching every week.

I am so excited to see what the future has in store and instead of boring you with a long a$$ post (well, one that is any longer than it already is), I am more excited to just show you the changes. Please check back on the regular for new stories and as always, make sure you’re following along on social for even more content to inspire.

No matter how long you’ve been a fan of the blog, I seriously want to thank you all for your support over the past few years, months or days. I literally couldn’t do it without you. I hope everyone’s 2018 is off to a great start – feel free to drop your goals or resolutions down below for a little extra encouragement!

What a great blog! I’ve been following you now for a little while and I admire your honesty and openness of your posts. As an aspiring blogger myself, I’m often turned off by the perfectionism and Barbie clones, (I still admire those bloggers). I look forward to seeing the changes you’re creating!
