How do you take your coffee?

So, y’all know I live for my morning cup of coffee. Since starting Whole 30 a few weeks ago, my morning ritual has been somewhat altered. I am that girl that takes her coffee and lattes with  more milk & sugar than actual caffeine so when those items were both eliminated from my diet, I didn’t know what to do let alone how to drink my coffee. For a few weeks, I created my own healthy version of a frappe with coffee + banana + almond milk + ice but let’s be real, it is NOT the same. I missed the strong aroma & kick of a good espresso and really really missed just a simple cup of coffee as I slid into that 4:00 work slump.

I recently got Nespresso’s latest creation – the VertuoLine – and lucky for me, I can now have all of my favorite coffee beverages without the added crap you get from your local cafe. The VertuoLine brews both a single cup of coffee AND espresso…so we’re good there. It is also really slim which is perfect for my tight kitchen counter space (I think I need a McMansion). Oh, and did I mention this beauty also comes in a ton of awesome colors. I think it was definitely love as first sight with this chic + modern white machine but I also have a major crush on this red beauty

Now remember, while I can have all the coffee I want (well, I’m sure there are some limits) I still can’t have any sweeteners, dairy, etc… basically all of the good stuff that made my coffee enjoyable. So, I decided to experiment with my new brewer to see what yummy creations I could create that were also Whole 30 compliant. After brewing my first cup of coffee I was seriously floored with how amazing the quality of the Nespresso pods were that I didn’t have a chance to try any other recipes! I used the Vanizio pod which has a really nice velvety texture with yummy hints of vanilla bean (so good, y’all). I added a splash of whole 30 approved almond milk and a few sprinkles of cinnamon and was good to go. It could be the rich, flavorful vanilla coffee or the fact that I haven’t had sugar in 20+ days but y’all, I drank a cup of coffee with not much added and I actually enjoyed it. For that reason alone, I am a true Nespresso converter — and I think you will be too! Actually, you should get one and we can have espresso tasting parties #turndownforwhat.

I’ve seriously been considering doing the Whole 30 challenge after you mentioned it a few weeks ago, and I think the coffee was one of my biggest concerns. Mine is loaded with more milk and cream than coffee, as well haha! Nice to know there’s always an alternative!

You should totally do it! While it is probably the hardest thing I have ever done lol I am definitely noticing a huge difference physically and mentally (how I look at food AND how I consume food). I also have a ton of energy and don’t event have to drink coffee everyday. When I do drink it, its more for taste than anything else! Let me know if you decide to do it and I can share some tops and recipes 🙂

Lo, your dad is now trying to eat healthy. This might be a great alternative to his coffee with sugar mixture.
