Get Ready to Fly

Raise your hand if you love new workout gear! I swear I get so much more motivated when I have a new pair of leggings or sneakers. When I was recently introduced to HOKA ONE ONE, I knew my gym game was about to be taken to a whole new level.

Before I dive, let me give you a little background. HOKA was created by two life-long runners in 2009. The brand was initially embraced by ultrarunners but now HOKA now offers shoes for all types of athletes…even me, the world’s most nonathletic athlete. Fun fact: I was on the track, cross country, cheer and gymnastics teams in high school but am somehow one of the least coordinated people I know. Not sure how that worked out…

I scored some kicks from HOKA’s latest Fly Collection which has one thing in mind: versatility. The Cavu, Mach and Elevon are the three different styles and I’m pretty obsessed with all of them. I’m wearing the Cavu in Black – these scream my sense of minimal, classic style. The best part? They take me from the gym to running errands to casual brunch look. I love ‘em.

What makes me fly?

That’s an easy one. I’m feeling more and more inspired every day by Brandon. Since we got back from South Africa a few months ago, he’s been hitting the gym pretty much every day and although I haven’t joined his routine just yet, I feel so motivated to get my butt in gear. Not only do I feel ready to get back in the gym but seeing his dedication start to really pay off, I’ve been putting a lot of extra thought into my approach to health. It’s taken me a few years to develop some of these unhealthy habits but he’s showing me it’s never too late to turn back the clock and get it together. I’m working on developing a better diet focused on balance and fuel, I’m taking more “me” time and focusing on my overall sense of wellness. I still have some work to do but it feels good to have a plan!

Lately, I’ve been trying to mix it up in the workout department. As much as I love a spin class, I made it part of my Thirty Before 30 List to try out some new routines. Now that I’m literally ready to fly, I can’t wait to try more cardio and strength training workouts in some of the new studios in Atlanta and maybe even incorporate a run every now and then.

I’m even taking my newly inspired outlook away from the gym and into my personal and professional life. Staying consistent with my workouts is also keeping me on track with staying on top of my to-do list and bigger projects for Lauren Elyce or Adorn. I never realized how much things can overlap but once you start to follow a plan and stay dedicated to something, it’s really cool to see how your mind and actions start to shift in all aspects of your life.

How do you stay motivated when it comes to your workouts? What classes should I add to my workout wish list? Sound off in the comments below!

Great post! I love the simple black and white look when it comes to athletic wear. I always stick to grey and black tones myself. Zumba is a fun way to workout. I do quite a bit, and nothing kicks my butt harder than dancing.
