Date night is a real thing in our house. We’ve been dating now for four years and I think it’s safe to say that no matter how long you’ve been with your boo, it’s important to maintain and fue your relationship. That totally looks different for everyone. For B and I – creating memories and experiencing things together keeps the romance and intimacy alive. I.e. we love date night.
Now, don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t happen every weekend and all date nights look different. Sometimes we splurge on a fancy dinner or activity and sometimes we’re chillin in sweat pants at home. Either way, you don’t have to drop all of your hard-earned coins for date night.
Sure it’s cool to do something super special every now and then but you can absolutely spend quality time with your boo for free. And shoot, you should! Here are a few of my favorite 100% free date night ideas.

4 Free Date Night Ideas
No. 1 Movie Night at Home
This is one of my favorite things. Ever. We started doing this a few months ago and now it’s our weekly tradition! We write down a bunch of movies on little slips of paper and put them in a bucket. Every Wednesday (it’s on our calendars so no canceling allowed), we take turns drawing a slip of paper out of the bucket. Whatever movie we draw that week, we have to watch. No matter what. We’ve been on a Star Wars streak the past few weeks – I really feel like Brandon rigged the system but whatever (inserts eye roll).
This is such a fun way to do a movie-themed date night in the comfort of your own home. Pop some popcorn or enjoy the movie with dinner on the couch – totally up to you! Open a bottle of wine or make some hot chocolate. Bundle up in blankets on the couch or set up a cozy palette on the floor. Make it fun and comfy!
No. 2 Take Turns Playing Chef
Rather than heading out to a restaurant for date night, take turns cooking for each other. Put it on the calendar and whoever is cooking gets full control. Make a menu. Set up the dining room table with plates and silverware and glasses. Serve cocktails or wine. Make it a fun dining experience and make it feel like a date night. This is not your everyday dinner at home so find fun ways to make it special with flowers or a cute dessert or take the cocktails to the living room and sip by candlelight.
No. 3 Game Night
Bust out the old school board games like Monopoly or Scrabble! We also love learning new card games together. I’m trying to get Brandon to teach my Spades…without being so competitive. We’re working on it! There’s something about playing games that just make a casual night at home that much more fun. You can set up the games and play a different one each night or you can make a competition out of it and whoever wins the most games gets a prize!
No. 4 Time for a NightCap
Okay. So this is one of my favorites and can be as sexy as you want it to be 🙂 Turn off the phones and put them away until morning. Light a few candles. Open a bottle of wine or mix up some boozy cocktails. Bust out the lingerie and the bubble bath. Enjoy some quality time together whether that means heading to the sheets for some fun or heading to the sheets for some much-needed rest – juts make it fun and sexy!
