Shoes. A girl’s best friend.
…and a girl’s worst nightmare.
Am I the only girl that gets totally overwhelmed in the shoe department? For years I was the other girl who had almost a hundred pairs of shoes in her apartment and wore like 2-3 pairs per season. I bought the cute shoes. I bough the sexy shoes I bought the cozy shoes. I bought the #trending shoes. I bought ’em all and I wore none of them. I finally realized that as much as I loved being surrounded by the pretty shoes, I wasn’t much of a shoe girl. I found myself wearing the same few pairs, throwing in a fun pair here and there to change things up. I tend to have more fun with the clothes themselves and decided earlier this year to streamline my shoe collection. I went through the good, the bad and the ugly and parted ways with over 50pairs of shoes. Yes. Fifty pairs. Gone.
I now have a pretty good sized collection of seasonal staples and a few special pairs to get me through formal events, trendier looks, etc. but man do I feel so much better. In the spirit of new beginnings and getting your closet prepped for the cooler seasons, I thought I’d pull together my favorite fall + winter shoe staples. Now, most of these shouldn’t come as a surprise. Yes, we all know every girl needs a pair of booties or OTK boots. How groundbreaking. But there are a few other pairs that I swear by and keep in heavy rotation all season long.
Check ’em out below and get your shop on – I’ve rounded up all of my faves and most will be on sale this Cyber weekend!

booties: think classics + a peep toe
Every girl needs a pair of booties and my go-to’s lately have been a chic beige pair and a pair with peep-toe detailing. I love the balance of a pair of booties with everything from ripped jeans to a mini skirt. You can also go with a flirty a-line dress or leather leggings and an oversized sweater!

keep it casual in loafers
I live in flats, especially when it starts to get cold. I love how chic and modern the loafer trend is and you better believe I rock them all year long. You can’ go wrong with jeans and you can also dress them up with a cute little black dress + leather jacket combo. Have fun with prints and textures, too!

the flattering heeled, otk boot
I will always be grateful for a flattering, heeled over the knee boot. I think I wear mine at least once a week with everything form mini skirts + sweaters to jeans + tee shirts. You just can’t go wrong with this dressed up, versatile shoe. Lately, I’ve been a fan of using an OTK boot to dress up a more casual look and kind of can’t get enough of the jeans option.

cool sneakers
A cool pair of sneakers can get you pretty far in fall and winter. They’re not just for gym #ootd! I love pairing my sneaks with leather leggings and oversized sweaters for a fun, casual vibe. You can also go with distressed jeans, a cool tee + a leather jacket. When it comes to a classic pair of chucks or adidas, you can even throw on a dress or oversized sweater!

classic block heel pumps
I am a huge fan of the block heel trend and haven’t stopped wearing them all season. Not only is this the perfect classic heel to keep in rotation but they are so much more comfortable than your strappier alternatives. I love wearing a block heel for a dressed up casual look with jeans or leggings and also keep mine around for all of the holiday parties this season.

flat otk boots
My go-to’s for comfort are always a pair of flat otk boots. They give you the flattering style of a regular otk boot but are so much more comfy and can go with literally everything. I love pairing my boots with a sweater dress or a girlier dress with a layered jacket. You can also slide them over jeans and pair with a blazer for casual Friday or go full on casual with jeans and tee.

I couldn’t agree more with this post! I’m the same way when it comes to shoes. I have my staples that I wear consistently, but I don’t venture beyond much. The shoes you suggested are beautiful and something I think every woman needs to own.
