Movie Night!

A few weeks ago, I shared a little peek into a fun family movie night with Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn at the Avalon. We had so much fun watching a movie under the stars, and the (endless) popcorn station they had on site was absolutely perfect!

I got a little inspired to host my own mini movie night for some of my girlfriends, and it was the perfect way to settle into a cozy fall weekend. Because I live in a loft in the middle of downtown, I couldn’t exactly throw a movie night under the stars, but we had so much fun staying in for one of our fave chick flicks. Complete with a mini popcorn bar and cozy fur blankets, I definitely plan to make at-home movie nights a regular thing.

Check out some of my tips and tricks for throwing your very own movies-in-the-backyard-themed bash!

  1. Make it cozy. Whether you’re outside or indoors, you can’t go wrong with cozy blankets, long socks, and chunky knit sweaters. These were all must-haves for our girls’ night in.
  2. Pop that corn! Not only is Orville Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Butter Popcorn spot on with the stuff that costs three times as much at a theater, but it is so light (and buttery!) and pops in minutes, which is perfect for those nights when you’d rather spend time catching up with your girls.
  3. Pick the right movie. You gotta know your audience. For a girls’ night in, you can’t go wrong with a comedy or chick flick. Planning something for your kiddos or favorite baby cousin? Opt for something fun and kid-friendly (because you deserve to be a kid too!). And for a fun date-night idea, try a cool action flick or thriller for the boyfriend.

I love your popcorn bar. Super cute! Instead of a Book Club, my girlfriends and I have a Book/Movie Club where we read the book and then watch the movie together at someone’s house. We have so much to talk about comparing the book to the movie #PopcornPartyTime

We enjoy movie nights, here at our house especially during the holidays. We order pizza and most definitely have popcorn (the little ones love popcorn flavoring) Halloween and Christmas are my favorite cause we cuddle for both scary and happy movies. #PopcornPartyTime
