Earlier this week I did my bridal makeup & hair trial and it was honestly one of the first real tangible things that made me feel SO close and super excited for the big day. Aside from dress of course.
If you know me, you know I’m not one that wears a lot of makeup. I don’t do the glam thing. I don’t spend a lot of energy on my hair (I love a high bun or curly/frizzy fro situation). On top of that, I’m still trying to get used to my longer hair. I had short curls for years and this is the first time I’ve had hair below my shoulders.
It’s safe to say I was nervous about the trial. I did a lot of research to find a stylist that could do a natural look and help me figure out what to do with my hair on our big day. When I came across Scoobie West after being referred by a friend, I knew right away he would be the perfect fit for me and my girls. I love that he works with a range of skin tones (that’s important) and has a good balance of glam and natural work in his portfolio.
I went into the trial with an open mind but of course had to bring together a little moodboard of what I was envisioning. In terms of hair, I’m still going back and forth between a slicked back bun and a messy/curly updo. For makeup, I definitely want a bronze, glowy natural look. I want to look like ME and don’t want anything that feels too “glam”.
We’re getting that much closer to the wedding and I can’t believe that I finally got to cross this off my list. I can’t wait to share the final look in a few months. Stay tuned!!
