I feel like 2016 was the year of the culottes for me. As you can see here, here and here, I had a serious love affair with the trend. Surprise surprise. Nothing has changed this year. I just think this wide leg, cropped pant situation is super flattering for any and every body type. Not to mention culottes are one of the most versatile piece of clothing a girl can have in her closet. You can dress them up for date night, dress them down for running errands or make them boss-chic for the office. They’re that good. Especially when you’ve got a classic pair of black culottes.
I found this simple pair of black culottes at Target when I was there a few weeks ago picking up office supplies (go figure) and ended up picking them up in a few different prints – more coming to the blog this month! I loved how these fit and thought a good black par would be the perfect base for pretty much any look. For an easy spring look, I went with a light blue striped button up and my favorite pink suede pumps. I think the lighter, almost pastel-like shades of both pieces go together well and also soften up the black culottes. I wore this look for a casual business lunch and am thinking of recreating for dinner by adding a cool leather jacket into the mix.
I had to return my wide leg cropped jeans so now i’m on a culotte hunt! Love these.
